Not every cosmetic issue with your smile is a major event, Sometimes, it just takes a little work to give your smile a wonderful makeover. If you have a chipped tooth, or a minor alignment problem or teeth that are uneven, tooth reshaping can make an incredible difference.

If your teeth need to be reshaped, the dentist will use a drill to gently remove some tooth enamel and then trim long teeth, or alter the shape of your teeth to make your smile more visually appealing and to correct any bite issues that may be causing you problems. After reshaping your teeth, the dentist will smooth polish them. Remember that this procedure is for minor problems. After an exam, your dentist will recommend whether tooth reshaping is right for you.

To take your treatment one step further, the dentist may use bonding to correct chips and close gaps between your teeth. Bonding involves etching the surface of your tooth and apply a colored resin to restore your tooth to its original look and function. When combined with reshaping, bonding can be a great addition to your smile.

After the process is complete, you will need to continue to brush twice a day and floss before bed; and see your dentist for regular exams and cleanings. You should avoid chewing on ice and other objects, and refrain from opening packages with your teeth to maintain your dental work.
