Soda is a beverage that can harm your smile. In fact, it can cause enamel erosion and tooth decay, which are two dental issues that can result in tooth sensitivity and tooth extraction. So, it’s best if you just avoid drinking soda altogether. For a healthier smile, our Bayside Family Dentistry dental team encourages you to do the following things:

-Drink healthier drinks: If you drink healthier drinks instead of soda, your teeth would be much better off. Some healthier drinks include milk, sugar-free beverages, and 100 percent fruit juices.

-Rinse your mouth: Rinsing your mouth with water will help you constantly rinse your smile and wash away any harmful substance that clings to it. So, make sure you rinse your mouth with water after you have consumed a sugary drink.

-Clean your smile: Oral hygiene is extremely important, especially when you are trying to protect your smile from enamel erosion and tooth decay. So, make sure you brush your teeth twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Also, floss once a day and rinse your mouth with fluoride mouthwash daily.

-Use professional fluoride treatments: When you come into our office for a dental cleaning and exam, we will give you a fluoride treatment that will come in the form of a gel, varnish, or foam. It will generally be flavored to give you more of an enjoyable experience, and it will nourish and strengthen your smile while it is in your mouth.
